I am discovering, as I experiment with various ways of putting material onto the web, that there is a payoff between the efficiency of achieving a "post", and the likelihood it will begin to appear in search engine results. For example, video on You Tube appears to still be the most pervasive form of post picked up by search engines, especially if has a good set of comments attached. Yet, completing and up loading video is not particularly efficient in terms of time taken to achieve a post. On the other hand, putting a link into Tumblr with a quick comment is quite efficient, but the hit rate on a search engine tends to be quite low.
I aim to look at little more closely at these relationships, and will report back on how the various forms of material I am working with stack up on this "efficiency - payoff" continuum.
